"When we meet ourselves and our children with compassion and creativity, we create space for real growth."Â

Hi, I'm Kate Powers
An author, educator, and speaker who believes in the power of gentle connection.
Through books, storytelling, and speaking, I create space for emotional honesty especially for those navigating parenting, neurodivergence, and the messy beauty of being human.
This is my Story
This journey didn’t start with a brand. It started in moments of quiet overwhelm, in the classroom with melting-down students, at home with my own kids needing more than I could give, and in the late nights wondering how to keep showing up.
I’ve run marathons and triathlons, but the real endurance has been showing up as a mom, teacher, and now, creator of resources that speak to the chaos and beauty of real life.
After shoulder surgery, I turned to watercolor as healing. What began as recovery became a way to reconnect with myself and others. That art now lives in my books, resources, and every offering here.
The Little Dragon series was born from real-life parenting. Stories whispered at bedtime, affirmations scribbled on sticky notes. It’s not just a book. It’s a reminder that wild feelings can be met with compassion and love.
This space is for the moms, the educators, the quiet creatives trying to do it all. You’ll find tools, art, stories, and a gentle reminder that you're not alone.
Let’s create something meaningful, together.
Why I Believe The Work on Ourselves MatterÂ
Raising a neurodivergent child isn’t just about finding the right supports for them—it’s about
doing the work within ourselves, too.
Our kids often can’t regulate their bodies or emotions the way others expect. Their brains
process the world differently, and when they spiral into overwhelm, they need us to be steady,
calm, and present.
But how do we offer that when we’re overwhelmed, too?
That’s where my journey began.
After my divorce, I made a conscious decision...Â
To create a home grounded in peace—not chaos. But I had to build that peace myself. I had to unlearn what I’d grown up with and relearn how to feel safe in my own body so I could help my child feel safe in theirs.
That meant walking, movement, daily gratitude, and eventually understanding my own ADHD and how it shaped my nervous system. This work—personal growth, nervous system healing, reclaiming joy—isn’t selfish. It’s how we become the safe, steady presence our children need. It’s how we become the parent, advocate, and human we want to be.
That’s why I write. That’s why I create. And that’s what Stop Existing, Start Living is all about.
